Reducing the risk of theft from your boat seems pretty straight forward, but to get you thinking about things that might make a difference to you here are a few ideas:-

Insurance
Make sure your insurance is up to date, that any extra equipment is covered and that you have followed your insurer's guidelines.

Inventory
In the unpleasant event that something is stolen it will help increase the chances of recovery and of a succesfull prosecution if you record serial numbers and other details of eveything that might apeal to a thief. This includes engines and your hull number (if your boat has one).

Marking
From simple measures like writing your postcode or international call sign on your items, to more expensive devices which will help the Police to reunite you with your property.

Out of Sight
If you can move items that might be tempting that will help, even better is if you can take small expensive items home with you.

Secure
Outboard engines and other removable items should be well secured, most products we come accross will only slow a determined thief but a chain and padlock will often act as a deterant.
